Sunrises (Tag Abasi <3)

Much like her own permanently damaging injury, there was no hiding the scar that mangled his mouth. Her gaze didn't linger on it, her strangely muted eyes merely washed over the wound as she did the rest of him, taking him in and comitting the lines of his body to her memory. She'd heard of the new member to join their ranks but hadn't wanted to overwhelm him. Most wolves of Castellum were kind and it was nearly tradition to greet a new wolf with open paws as it were. The large wolf strode towards her and instead of feeling afraid, she was washed with a gentle sense of calm. Blu was a kind soul at the worst of times. The dame lacked malice and bitterness despite the tragedy that had befallen her. She was a healer and a medic... she didn't have the soul of a warrior.

She greeted him gently, tail swinging idly behind her rear legs as she trotted forward. There was no fear or caution in her posture... in the small damsels eyes he was apart of the family now, it was her job to ensure he stayed healthy, happy and whole. She was the packs only medic at the moment and that meant added pressure. She'd already investigated a plethora of herbs that aided her when she got phantom pains or when her stump simply grew sore... perhaps she could recommend a few for him if his mouth gave him trouble. She wouldn't dare ask today, but perhaps once she got to know him a bit better. He drew closer and Blu pranced a bit but didn't flee, nothing in his posture said aggression. He sat fur to fur beside her and for the moment at least, Blu remained standing. Sitting was quite difficult for her, it was half a balancing act that still threw her a bit for a loop. He had smiled after all and for now Blue would let such a gesture appease her.

His words were low and quiet but she swore she saw a sliver of unease speed through his eyes. It made the oddly colored damsel frown just a bit. She was about the farthest thing from intimidating as one could get. Hell she'd been timid and small even before she lost her leg now... it nearly seemed laughable. She couldn't recall ever having met this large male before but maybe it was something in the way she looked or moved... lord knew she had demons that waited in the wings, whose to say this large brute couldn't have a few of his own? It wasn't her place to intrude upon another wolf, especially not during a first meeting and with slow caution she settled herself back on her rump, tail coiling absently to kill in the gap on her left side.

She was answering his request with physical action and not so much words. "Are you alright?" She murmured softly, concerned for how shaken he seemed. She let him linger almost uncomfortably close, the edge of his fur just barely skimming her own as the bitches eyes raised to the sky high above. The stars sparkled, glistening like quiet beacons and the multi-hued dame smiled softly. “Are you enjoying Castellum so far? I was born here, I don't know much about the world beyond my family, but I've never much been inclined to leave. What brought you to us if you don't mind me asking?” Her voice was soft, gentle and calm, drifting with a soft ease and filling the space between them.

“Insomnia?” The blue bitch spoke softly, the syllables drifting across her tongue with no bite and only quiet concern. She frowned a bit, but didn't push him into telling her anything more. When she'd lost her leg she'd have horrible night terrors that left her light headed, panting and desperate to just run. She still had them and often she wondered if she always would. She wasn't sure anyone could survive viewing or enduring such horrendous acts of violence without being permanently changed. She shook her head, forcing herself to fight off the sudden chill that careened down her spine. His inquiry surprised her, but the blue damsel smiled gently. “Perhaps, we could try a small sedative, a small dose of poppy seeds. They worked for me.” She highly doubted she needed to clarify why she'd needed them. “You don't want to take them all the time, but every now and again won't hurt.” She smiled gently.

She didn't answer his nearly non descript words of her home. Blu had lived here all her life, she hardly needed another to tell her that this land was remarkable. She had a great deal of respect for it's leader and it's ideals. Perhaps that made her naive because she'd never been anywhere else but... why leave if she was happy and content? That concept didn't make a lot of sense to her. “Castellum is home.” Equally as simplistic as the brutes own words but they were spoken with such adoration and finality... that they couldn't be questioned, at least not in the smaller wolfs mind.

“I don't think any story of brutality is a nice story. Sometimes bad things happen to good souls and good things happen to vile souls, but sometimes those bad things stregthen us and sometimes those good things can shatter down a wall.” There was a quiet gentleness to her words as she paused and mulled over what she wished to say. She was one of the youngest wolves in Castellum, but she seemed to half a patience and a grace that far superceeded her years. “There are some things in this world that lack reason, justification or cause. My missing leg is one of them. I lost it to pure unadulterated wrath, hatred and pure aggression that I could feel stronger than any pain that made it through the adrenaline rush.” Another quiet pause.

“When you feel comfortable enough to tell me your unkind story, I will tell you mine.” Her words remained gentle and calm. There was no condescending snap to her voice or angered push to make him speak. Her leg wasn't something she enjoyed speaking of just as she was sure the wound to his mouth was something he was largely tired of repeating. “In the meantime if that wound does cause you grief, I can mix you a poultice and teach you how to apply it.” Blue was a gentle thing and while she realized she couldn't heal the world... she could ensure the members of her pack were well taken care of.

She smiled gently, her tail idly drifting behind her. The appendage had a mind of it's own she swore. Abasi seemed a bit odd in the way he remained oppressively close, but perhaps he simply craved companionship? She understood that more than most, when she'd first been recovering from the attack, she was petrified to be alone. She was terrified to die alone. She didn't know what demons marred his past from the obvious scarring across his maw, but she was certain they were brutal and if touch of companionship and a gentle conversation was all he sought than Blu would more than happily supply both. She had a complete faith and trust in the wolves of Castellum and perhaps that was foolish, but at least no one could claim she didn't love her family. She nodded simply to his words with a soft smile.

“Should your dreams ever bother you, my den is in the Northwest corner of the territory, as a medic I'm awarded a larger den to accomadate the sick or wounded. I almost always have poppy seeds in stock, if they help, don't hesitate.” She'd trained under one of the oldest medics in the pack before the elder male had passed away. She was quite certain that there were more remedies to learn but she had a substantial base knowledge which was more than could be said for anyone else in the pack.

The silence they lapsed into was comfortable and she was contented merely watching the rising sun. She'd come hee for the almost quiet peace that the outcropping had to offer. The addition of her packmate merely served to solidify that sense of tranquility... until the hair along her spine began to rise and that tingling sense of awareness trickled along her spine. At first, she felt fear, she remembered the great Grizzly who'd stolen her leg but a slight turn of her head and heavy inhale, revealing no scent or trace of such a massive predator and yet... still the unease of being watched remained.

“I can't scent anyone close, can you?” Her voice was soft, barely a whisper and meant for Abasi's ears only. If she was going to throw her lot in with a stranger, it was going to be the stranger that wore the scent of Castellum. She did as he asked, shifting to walk at a decent pace on Abasi's right. Her gait was awkward and strange but she was obviously well adjusted to moving without her hind left limb. She wasn't panicked and she was still calm... they weren't completely away from the pack territory and even if this was some kind of ambush... they might be able to make it home.
