Dim sunlight poured through the canopy overhead in ways that mimicked thousands of tiny spotlights. The ground was consumed mostly by shadow, but the sunlight still fought its way through the vegetation that lingered overhead. The grass appeared almost yellow in sun-kissed spots and the rest, consumed by shadow, boasted a deep green hue. Silver could be seen on the western horizon, a sign that the day was quickly dying. The sun itself had been long gone, disappearing behind the tall trees that enveloped this land, but the sky knew the sun remained floating on its soft blue canvas. Crickets sung their soft romantic songs to call their lovers, a song that added to the preternatural feeling that this place emitted. Ah, and then there was the river that intertwined with Earth's skin, caressing her delicately with gentle swaying movements.
A stunning scene played before the alabaster lady. The wind tugged at the soft ringlets that poured from her chest, abdomen, and tail. Her silken pelt flowed flawlessly against her dainty frame as she leisurely glided toward the waters. Now, standing on the river's grassy edge, ocean eyes merged with the water - staring down at her own reflection. Head tilted slightly as she watched the water toy with her image, changing it slightly when waves brushed over the surface. Lowering her maw, pink tongue distorted the reflection all the more as it lapped up the clear, cool liquid.
Upon filling her thirst, she slid into the shallow waters in which barely kissed her chest. The liquid was soothing, a temporary relief from Summer's seemingly eternal heat. Head dipped quickly down into the liquid and, just as quickly, tossed back so that the water gathered upon her head poured over onto her back. Droplets drizzled down her sides, dampening her pelt and fastening it to her skin even tighter.
