Artemis - Finished -

Character Name: Artemis
Character Age: 6 months
Gender: Female
Description: Artemis is very small, only half the size of a normal puppy her age. She is very thin, you can see her ribs and hips protruding. Her once beautiful red fur has grown dull and matted from lack of care. And her grey eyes have a look of hopelessness. She has long legs that are obviously meant for speed. Though there is a deep gash along her front right leg. One look and it becomes obvious that she is starving, and that she hasn't eaten in a long time.

Personality: Artemis was once like every other wolf pup. She was playful, friendly and of course curious. But that all changed in one horrible day. Artemis became frightened, she didn't know who she could trust and who she couldn't. She became very shy and skittish, running from the slightest noise. Whether it was a branch breaking or the sound of the wind through the leaves. She gets scared very easily. It is possible that Artemis could return to the playful pup she once was. But it would take lots of work especially patience. She needs someone who would be patient and help her rebuild her trust and return her to the playful pup she once was.

History: Artemis was the first born pup from a litter of four. She was born to Zephyr and Lila. From the moment she was born her parents knew she was a pawful. Even before her eyes where open she would crawl around sniffing things out. She was curious and wanted to know what the world was like. When her eyes did finally open she was shocked to find out the world was bigger than the den she lived in. As she and her litter mates got bigger she would lead them out of the den to go exploring. During that exploration they had a run in with a skunk. At the time they had no idea what it was and the four of them tried to play with it much to the skunks displeasure and sprayed them with Artemis getting the worst of it. Their parents heard them howling from the den where they had been napping and came running only to stop several feet away and start laughing. They took the pups to the stream and began washing them. But just using water wasn't doing anything. It took several days for the smell to go away.

Things where going well the first few months of Artemis's life. But everything went to hell when she turned five months old. A group of wolves attacked her family's small pack in the middle of the night. They had nor warning, they came out of the darkness and killed the wolf that was on sentry before he could give a cry of warning. By the time her parents knew what was happening it was to late. They shoved their pups to the back of the den and stood in front of them. Zephyr fought hard to protect his family but they where out numbered. Two wolves grabbed him and dragged him out of the den while two others grabbed their mom. Artemis heard her parents fight for a few more minutes but than it grew quiet. 

Bijuu stepped in front of his sisters to try and protect her as another wolf entered. He growled and bared his teeth but the wolf just laughed and grabbed him by the throat and killed him. The three sister's let out a cry and darted out of the den to try and escape. Artemis was in the lead and charged head on never looking back even when she heard her sister's cry out in pain before being killed. The wolves where gaining up on her and she was panicking. She through herself into a thick thorn bush and ran through it. She heard the sharp cries and the wolves tried to follow her. She continued running zig zagging this way and that. Eventually she found a small hole that led under a tree ad threw herself down it. Thankfully it was just a rabbit hole so she was not in danger. Artemis hid down in that rabbit hole for what felt like forever. It wasn't until three days later that she finally dared to leave the rabbit den. Looking around there was no one around and she couldn't smell any wolves. Slowly she headed back the way she had come in hopes of finding someone still alive. But she became lost, she eventually gave up and just walked no knowing where she was going.

For a month she was on her own running from the slightest noise and hiding at the sight of any wolves. She was scared and didn't know what to do. Artemis didn't know how to hunt and though she tried could never catch anything. She had to resort to scavenging for food which wasn't easy either for their where always other scavengers fighting for food. She had to fight birds, as well as other animals which is how she ended up injuring her leg. She was fighting for a rabbit carcass that she had found completely untouched yet. But a large bird wanted it and sliced her leg with it's sharp beak. But in the end she ended up chasing it away and she got to keep the rabbit. She grabbed the rabbit and limped to one of her hiding placed and ripped it's belly open and began eating. When she was full she went to work on pulling the fur off. It took a long time but eventually she had the rabbit's fur for her to use to sleep on.
